Default 06 dyna question

I have a 06 wide glide and the jiffy stand spring broke and came off a couple of days ago and just now bought a new one at the dealer. Was under warranty but I didnt want to drive the bike an hour when our family was going down there anyways. Question is what dirrection shoule the open part of the spring face on the piviot on the bike? I have it facing front and it doesnt seam to fit good but dont see how changing the dirrection would affect it any. Looks like it might pop off and maybe that is what happened to the first one. Thanks for anyone going and checking and reporting back.

It's funny you say this because I noticed on my bike when I got down and looked at it that the spring on the jiffy stand BARELY attaches to the bike. It seems like it could pop off at any time. I tried taking some pliers and bending the spring around the pivot a little more but I couldn't budge it. Makes me wonder if this will happen to me as well.

Oh and by the way the open loop of the spring faces rear on my bike.
