Im needing the experts help again. On my 2011 Wide Glide, Ive been running an HD LED brake light and Kuryakyn rear LED turn signals for years without any added load equalizer. I just bought LED bulbs that also don't require a load equalizer for the front turn signals. They worked great for day, then I noticed the solid key indicating a fault code. I cycled the ignition, started the bike and the solid key disappeared. I tried to pull the code, but cant because now the right switch doesnt do anything. The left switch works, but the signal starts to blink rapidly. I checked the right switch with a meter at the connector under the tank and it is good. All the lights work and flash when I turn the bike on. Is my HFSM bad and how do I pull codes without both turn signal switches working?
Have you tried putting the previous bulbs back and seeing if that returns everything to normal (basically to rule out a faulty switch)?
Also, maybe try swapping the led bulbs left-right-left to see if that makes the left switch inoperative...
You might need to re-set the TSSM, but that requires working switches...
Thanks for the recommendations, all good ones. But I had already tried all that. I did however fix part of the problem. I had pulled the power to the front lever brake light because the switch is bad. The signal indicator switch shares that wire so it wasn't getting power. Still have a fault indicator and the lights blink rapidly. I have a load equalizer Ill be trying today.
FWIW
My expierence with LEDs....2009 fxdf ....initially had only an led headlight....with no probks...all at one time I switched ALL other lighting to LED and added in an equalizer (all from Custom Dynamics) Result = zero issues from day one. My perspective was that it would not hurt a thing by adding an equalizer so why not add it? After all, I was adding LED lighting and didnt want to experiment. Good luck, let us know if the equalizer makes a difference 😉
