2007 fxdb
as far as harleys, ive had a 95" 01 road king that ate the tensioners by 30k and had some issues from the magnetti marelli efi, and ive got a 14 limited with a stage 4 103 that, aside from running a little hot, has been rock solid for the last 2 years. I also had a short dealing with an 83 fxr shovelhead that i just got tired of messing with. I wrenched more than rode.
My reason for posting, are there any quirks with the 07 bikes? I read some about compensators, which, isnt a huge deal to me. Ill swap it out when its time. I know its got the 96", the hydraulic tensioners, and delphi efi, both solid upgrades over the tc95 i had. Its bone stock, not even slip ons, although i doubt itll stay that way long. Probably do exhaust, a/c, tune, but i have no idea how itll pull compared to the other bikes since theyre way heavier, so cams may not be necessary.
I own a 07 FXDB and honestly there isn't too much to worry about. Normal maintenance and it should be one of your more reliable bikes you've owned. Only real issue i have ever had was the rocker support plate snapping which wasn't too big of a deal (other buddy with a tc96 had a similar issue). One annoying thing is 06/07 had a 1 inch axles so not all wheels are directly compatible without a kit. Also connectors from the bars are pretty large and its a bit more of a process if you wanna run the wiring through the bars. But really 10/10 would recommend the year/bike. Good luck
