FXDB Handlebar Adjustment..
On my new to me 2013 FXDB, the handlebars have a nice height but are quite wide.. I like buck horns a lot. In fact that's what I'm running on my 98 Fatboy. So is there a possibility of bending (twisting) the area of the bars where the grips are inward and a little down without ruining the chrome? I was thinking if put then in an oven to 500* for a while that it might be possible without hurting the chrome.. Anyone ever done this? In the mean time I have a couple of friends looking for a set Buckhorns for me..

You can bend quality chrome plated pipe, just no sharp corners. Heating to 500 won't do anything tho. If you're set on this I would purshase a pipe bender (think conduit bender from HD/Lowes) amd give that a try. Would protect the bars with eiter painters tape or duct tape.

While a conduit bender is a good idea a standard electrical conduit bender for 1/2" is made for 7/8" pipe and a 3/4" bender is made for 1-1/8" pipe so neither will fit perfectly and protect from kinking if you don't have it just right. Nor will you fill the shoe of the bender due to the bends already in the bars.

I'm not so much as looking to bend the bars but more like twist the grips inward.. I though if I protect the bars with 2 pieces of 3/4 plywood secured in an 8" vice I should be able to use a little heat on the risers up near the grips bend. Then with a 3' length of Schedule 80 black pipe I should be able to slide it over the grip area and twist it in.. If I do manage to upset the chrome I can always strip it and paint them black to match the rest of the black trim on the bike...
