My chopper (carbed evo) of 15 years is starting to beat me up,so I'm "sniffing around" for something more back/***/hip friendly.I have an 06 Roadking (carbed) as well, but really use it for long trips.Looking to make that big jump to fuel injection/100+ci.engine/6 speed.I've liked Superglides, and Lowriders for awhile.Am seeking any thought/input into the various model years (07-up).
The Dyna Low Rider S models are good models to look for. If you have the coin, the new Softail Low Rider S models are very good. I had to spend some serious money to get my Dyna to handle well, but the new Softails handle well out of the box.
I've got a '07 Street Bob and a '12 Superglide Custom. Both only 96" but I've been OK with that. I didn't see very much advantage to one year over the other, the '12 has updated wiring (canbus) and updated brake calipers, and the '07 has 1" axles and bearings rather than the 25mm like the newer bikes. Besides intake and pipes, I put cams in the '07 and had it dyno tuned. It runs away from the 96" '12 and any stock 103" that I've ridden with.
I think the dyna is a good platform and you can't go too wrong with whatever you choose.

Cams will do that... What tuner did you use? The one thing I don't understand is that some still go with SE and to be honest the bang for the buck in going with SE is at a 50% discount in the performance category...

Andrews 48 cams and Mastertune TTS. The guy who did the tune was a beta tester for Andrews for the 48's, and is a highly rated TTS tuner. If I remember correctly Mastertune used to list recommended tuners and he was on the list. GMR Performance in Fort Worth. He used to be in Prescott Arizona when he did the work for me. I had done the self tune first, and he charitably told me that my tune was "pretty good." haha After he finished my bike was WAY better than when I brought it in. I would say that me installing the cams and doing my own tune only got me about half way there.

I Had a stock 2015 Low Rider, Had Doc in Clermont, Fl tune the bike after I had the Andrews 48 installed. I couldn't be happier. Don't forget, the Super Trap 2-1 makes more torque than any other pipe. A quiet tune netted me 109 lb ft, Torque, 100 at 2000rpm. Follow that up with a complete Ohlins suspension and you got more fun than you can imagine. Heads never been off.

My 103" twinkie with exhaust/intake/tune runs just fine for me, plenty of power. If you're budget conscious any early 2k Dyna should suit you just fine and you can snag one for a decent price, and a big bore swap is pretty easy to get you to 95" or 103" or more.
