I know that there have been several posts on this, but can I put a 21" wheel on my 07 Street Bob? I've read that the 06's were 3/4inch and the 07's are 1 inch axels.
Can it be done? What mods need to be done? The local Harley techs are telling me it can't be done.
Seems to be different answers depending on who I talk to.
Any help would be appreciated. I have to get another rim, and I would like to go the 21" route instead of the stock 19".
1st off...'06's have 1" axles both front and rear..2nd, it can and has been done[just look in my gallery for one example] although i had a bit more trouble as i went w/ wide-glide trees [so it had to be a wide-glide sized rim]
my advice...check ebay often!
There isn't any bolt in Harley 21" wheels that you can use, Sportster has a narrow glide front end, and the Wide Glide is wider then your Mid Glide. If your already have wire wheels, then the easiest way to go would be to lace a 21" rim to your original hub, or buy a custom wheel.
I have looked into this also. The hard part is going to be finding a 21" wheel which will fit your front end and will also work with a 1" axle.If your old rim is bent, consider buying a new outer rim and spokes, then lace them toyour old hub. That will probably be the cheapest route for you.
