Torque spec FXDB? Help
Can someone with a service manual or just the knowledge tell me what I should be torquing my handlebar riser's too
. I'm not talking about the bushings for the actual risers where they mount to the trees, (although I shouldprobably check that too)but the 4 allen bolts that hold the handlebarsin the risers.
For the record, I'm riding a Bob, with 1-1/4" dia x 14" high bars. (This sig pic should cover that)
Ever since I've moved my bars ahead slightly, they keep dropping back down, and I have to keep retightening these bolts.
Also, as a note, I don't have any loctite on these bolts. Just don't have any at my disposal right now, and this may be my problem. Regardless, I would like to know what the proper torque spec for this is. I'm getting frustrated[:@] and I don't want to snap a bolt trying to crank the sucker down.
Many thanks,
Ray.

Snugthe two rear fasteners until there is no gap between the clamp and risers, torque front fasteners to 12-18 ft-lb, torque rear fasteners to 12-18 ft-lb. You should end up with a gap in the front. This for a stock FXDB, from the '07 manual.
Thanks murph,
The "back to front" might just be what I'm doing wrong. When I first losened them up to push 'em forward, I noticed a bit of a gap in the front.
Thought it was a mistake and so I tightened in a "criss - cross" fashion with the intent to keep 'em even.
I will torque to the specs you've listed, in the morning and hope for the best!
Thanks again,
Ray.
