Well, sounds like its pretty common. Nothing to worry about I guess. Its alreadybecoming second naturefor me to work the clutch while down shifting through the gears now any ways. Still going to look into itthough, see if there is a way to get it to work more freely but if I cant, oh well.
It is definitely not right. Mine shifts like 'butter' up and down. I would check the things I mentioned and if you can't find anything, bring it in.I wouldn't just live with it, fix it before something bad happens. Downshifting is very critical to your SAFETY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you ever found yourself in these situations tho? Where you abruptly stop while in high gear? If you have, youre saying itll downshift all the way to 1st?
To me it sounds like the fluid needs to be changed and adjust the clutch at the basket and the cable. My bike shifts perfect without any problem. I can pull the clutch in and go up or down, no problem. There is definately something not right. So DO NOT let the dealership tell you to learn how to ride!
Well, my manual has made it to the dealership so Ill be stopping by to pick it up today if I can get there in time. Ill be reading all about the clutch adjustments and about the drive belt adjustment. Thanks flynavy, wouldnât have even looked at it. If anyone knows anything else I should look at it Id appreciate it.
I guess I forgot to mention. The dealership also told me that they would be more than happy to open it up and take a look around but if they donât see anything wrong, they cant cover it under my warranty. Id be paying for the labor to break it down and put it back together. So, Ill be doing some adjustment work and anything else I cant think of on my own to avoid that charge as long as possible. : )
Also, I just changed the fluids last week. It hasnât messed up since but then I havenât found myself in that situation yet. New fluids got rid of that loud clunk going into first gear though. I guess Ill go ahead and test it on a back road after work to see if fluids helped the shifting too.
Ah well, any more thoughts would be welcomeâŚ
