Default 2005 Super Glide

Just picked this up a couple days ago. I bought it from a lady who bought it brand new with 11 miles on it from her neighbor. The neighbor plugged $2 into a slot machine and won it but didn’t want it.
It’s an 05 with just over 20000 miles on the clock. It’s got a couple scratches here and there and some very minor rust on some of the fasteners and bolts. It was kept in a barn most of its life and it looks like it’s never had a thorough cleaning.
The ladies husband dressed it up pretty nice with a chrome primary, cam cover, battery box, coil cover and some other nice extras. It’s got a nice set of screaming eagle pipes, HD saddlebags, an HD detachable windshield, pull back risers with some nice bars.
She also gave me the stock 2 up seat, an extra set of screaming eagle slip ons with the stock phead pipes, and two boxes full of extra parts like pegs, grips, air filters, and chrome doodads.
I only got to put about 30-40 miles on it due to rain but it ran and sounded great. The suspension is lowered which I’m not fond of so I’ll probably address that this winter.
I got it for a good price too, less than most Sportsters are selling for in my area.
Im looking forward to going through it and cleaning it up to get it looking good. It’s pretty grimy from sitting in the barn but I’ll get it shined up in a few days.

Great looking Superglide, The PO put some money in it with the chrome cases and top end, unless it's the FXDC package, they came like that. Most FXD's had aluminum cases. At 20K miles you are in the window to have the cam chain tensioners looked at. Some 05's came with the wrong valve stem seals installed, if you see a engine oil usage a bit high that would be the reason, your plugs will show it also with wet black deposits, Again a great looking bike. Carb or Fuel injected?

Its injected unfortunately. I was hoping to find a carb bike but this will work too. It’s an FXD, not a Custom so yeah the PO added all the bling. The pic I posted is pre clean up. I spent the day with some steel wool and multiple cleaning products. It looks much better now but there’s still some cosmetic flaws like scratches and some minor pitting on some of the chrome. Like I said earlier I don’t think this bike has ever had a good wash. The wheels are so crusty I doubt they’ll ever come clean. Brake dust is really stuck on there. The front tire is split the whole way around on the rotor side so no rides for a few days till some new rubber gets here. I checked the date on the front and it’s from 2008 so yeah, time for a new one.

That's great news, both in snagging a good bike and that the wheels and tires are cruddy! Now you have good cause to remove wheels, remove fork sliders (gotta change the oil anyways eh!), remove the crash bar and take them all to get PC (whatever color you wish) and then new tires and bam, you're in business! Let the PC people clean the wheels in PC prep, that's great

Congrats

Im way too cheap for all that PC. They’ll probably get a good scrub and some wheel cleaner then maybe some rattle can black. LOL.
And yes I’m probably going to change the fork oil when the whelk comes off for the new rubber.

Bubba, congrats on the Dyna! Cool bike.
Those wheels are a lot like the ones on my Sportster. When I got it the wheels were in big-time need of cleaning. I used one of these polishing kits and the wheels came out great; a mirror finish. Time consuming but worth it.
