Here's how I modified my Harbor Freight jack. Cut out the bar connecting the two sides and then used grade 8 bolts. It doesn't require adapters and it's quite stable. I can climb up and sit on my dyna while it's jacked up with no problem.
Did the same with mine. Took about 20 minutes, and less than $5.00. Works great.
