Thinking about doing a 2" tank lift to clean up the lines of my 08 FXDSE. Has anyone done this and if so was it worth it? DK claims the bike runs cooler, angles the speedo better, provides easier access to front rocker box for cleaning.
I did it to my FXDF when I changed handlebars. I cant give you an opinion if cooler or easier to read speedo as I broke a bolt off in my throttle body and have issues trying to remove.
I didn't use the DK kit because its too expensive for what you get IMO. I used some brackets from home depot that were like $2. I ran them by the buffer till they were polished and super shiny then put them on there. I did front and front of the tank about 2" in the back and about 1". I have no idea if it runs cooler, but it definitely looks a lot cooler with the tank higher. Although it took a couple of rides to get used to the new weight placement of the full tank but now I don't even notice it anymore.
I had a two inch lift on my '07 Street Bob but took it off when I put the fat front end on it. I liked the way the bike looked with it, and it definitely made it easier to clean the front of the engine. I'm guessing it allowed the engine to run cooler, but I never verified that. Probably going to install it on my '12 Superglide. I bought it used, don't know the brand.
I've purchased things from DK Customs in the past, a top notch company that seems to sell top quality items.
My '07 with the 2" lift installed:

Reason: seems not deems
When I did mine they only had 1 size, I think it was the 2".
I had install issues, not the fault of the product itself but more with the application.
I have split tanks and I had to fabricate mown spacers for the dash plate as they didn't come with the kit.
PROS for me;
I liked the look, It probably ran cooler, would have been easier to clean the tops of the rocker boxes (mine were neglected).
CONS for me;
I lost usable fuel access due to the split tanks cross over and petcock locations.
and I noticed a top heavy feel in corners.
I removed it mainly due to the mileage loss per tank and more frequent fill ups.
