96 wide glide with an evo in it - can't for the life of me decode the serial number on the engine. It's a 9 digit and doesn't match the VIN. It's already registered, so no issues there, but just wondering if anyone out there knows anything.

As far as I understand a '96 EVO Engine should have 10 digits.
1,2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10
1,2: Model of bike, for exampel BK=FXSTC
3: Motor size, L=1340 (EVO Size big twin).
4: Year, for exampel X= 1999
5: Not 100% sure but 9= OEM Crate motor.
6-10: Should correspond to the five last digits in your frame VIN.
Pan back with a bigger picture.. I don't think that's an OEM case..
Another weird thing is it's got a 5 bolt derby cover on it instead of a 3 bolt (only evo's with a 5 bolt I think I read somewhere were in 99, but the outer primary off a twin cam is compatible up to 2000-ish or so).
