hey guys got a bit of a situation. gots pulled over last night on my way home from work and the motocycle cop informed me my bars were too tall!!!! SH^T!!!!!! i just recabled and internal wired these bars in april, but the law states riders hands cant be above the shoulders, mine were close to eye level.....woops. anyway i was hoping to score some of the SB take-offs you guys have layin around. i measured last night and i need atleast 3in to comply with the "MAN" i have 16" and i think the SB are 12"??? so if ya got a bar you'll sell for cheap i want them and i only have 5 days to get it done according to the man which isnt great so i'll pay extra for 2 day S&H to get them by friday. please help me out fellas!!! thanks in advance
The SB bars are 10" not 12". Take a look at this link for factory bar dimensions.

what a freakin stupid law !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that sucks. lucky here in ohio.they do not mess with bikers with big apes. [sm=WTFsgign.gif]
im 6ft live in arizona and it was just a fix it ticket to fine, but sucks really bad and the best part the week before i got hit for my very first speeding ticket also by a moto cop and he asked about the bars but said it was 18" so i was like cool i got 16" but this cop yesterday was nice but showed me in the book the law. very stupid law and if the SB bars are 10" thats cool to i got a couple diff length risers i could play with.
When I bought my bars the lady told me the cops in the E.Valley ticket for apes. Guess she was right. What about rolling the bars back (lower) & fighting the ticket. Have you tried calling any of pro-biker lawyers to see if you have any options other than changing bars?
CHECK THE LAWS IN YOUR STATE TO MAKE SURE HES NOT JUST GIVING YOU SCHITT

How much would the ticket be? Would you still have to change your bars?, What part of town were you in?
I know it'd be a pain in the butt, but what about buying a set of 1" dia. 14" bars, switch them out for the courts and then switch them back.I would think 14" would keep you legal. Your cables would be a little long temporarily, but it'd get you through the ticket and the bars only cost about $50.
Are you running Chubby's right now or 1" dia. bars?
