now I have a stupid question: does the manual your using have any pictures?
BTW I stripped one of my torx heads so the derby cover never comes off and I just use the inspection cover (4 hex bolts)for fluids.
Rebel Ryder, did you strip the bolt or the socket head? Your local NAPA dealer or Sears can provide you with a set of Extractors that will remove the cover bolt. If you stripped the cover bolt threads, you might need to drill and re-tap the threads. Not such a bad thing to do. Take your time.

stripped the torx head. thanks for the advice/input. one of these day I might try your suggestion, however, I'll probably just end up scratchingsome precious chrome. [:@]
maybe i am just stupid, but i sure dont see that on my 07 FXDC, nor do i see it in the maual
it says this as for filling...."pour 32 oz of primary chaincase lubricant in through the clutch inspection cover opening"
thats a nice round plate with 5 torx screws in it....which I always thought was called a derby cover....which again brings me to the question of is this a derby cover?
and if dont have that rectangular cover how the F&^% do i know if its overfilled or underfilled?
'07s have a self tensioning primary chain. The rectangular cover isn't there.
well the only reason i ask is that the manual describes what i always thought was the derby cover as the clutch cover...was going to buy a new cover when i changed the fluid
I have an '07 Lowrider and had the same question. The answer is yes. The Derby cover with the 5 torx heads is the inspection cover. I replaced the stock cover with this one which uses a "frisbee"style gasket.
So, if I want to check the level, they reccomend installing a new gasket. Looks like this:
Not a great setup.
Also, I broke my Sears crapola Torx bit trying to get it to 84-108 in-lbs. Get a hardened Snap-On bit before doing this one.
