Anyone used the Wild 1 Chubby 12.5 Apes? I want apes that bring the grips even with where the stock mirrors are now, I imagine 12.5s on the stock risers would do it, making it say 14.5? I'm 5'11 and hoping to get the bars even with my shoulders. Also how do you guys like the look of the Wild 1s? Going on a 2006 FXDWG. Thanks, appreciate the opinions.
P.S. Anyone know a good place to purchase the apes/hardware needed?
I got the 10" wild1 apes. I'm 6'2", and I could easily come up a few more inches for them to be level with my shoulders. I'd say the 12"s would be pretty close for you. Had I known better at the time, thats probably what I would have gone with.
I think the wild1 apes on a WG look good with that wide front end. I don't think I would like them on a skinny fork model. Big difference with the Wild1's is the spread from grip to grip. Your riding arm position will open up noticably. If you are a skinny guy, you might not like that... personal choice I suppose. I like them.
Yeah I defiantly like they way its seems even and the same width as the fork tubes. Did you have drag bars orignally? Also did you use the stock risers? Thanks.
no, I had the stock mini apes. The 10" raise up from the stocks just a little bit. I was really going for bars where I could go with internal wireing. Yep, stock risers
I like Wild One Chubby apes a lot - working on getting them for my Road King. Not sure if I like them on "skinnier" bikes especially one with a narrow glide front end. I prefer skinner bars, which I used on my Street Bob. Can't say it looks bad but it doesn't look right/balanced to me. But that's just me.
You can buy direct from Wild One - if you do, call them and ask if they have any blemished ones available. They sell these at a greatly reduced price and generally you can't even see the cosmetic blemish. Also try Zanotti's HD. They sell items from a few catalogs and I believe when I priced the WO for my Roadking the price Zanotti's sold them at wasn't much different than the Blem price direct from WO.

Hmmn guess the 06 comes with internal wiring already, so your pretty much stock height, but with fatter bars.
From seeing pics of the 12.5 I really like the look, they are big enough to be regonized pretty quick as apes, but not tall enough to where I think they are going to be uncomfortable. Did you just choose to not wire interally? Also how much longer did you need the cables?
