Default Ignition Switch Short?
I just bought a 2006 Street Bob with 18,600 miles. When I turn the ignition on sometimes the lights and speedometer do not come on. If I jiggle the key a bit it works ok. What do I need? A new switch? Thanks.

You might want to check the connector for the switch.

Not uncommon for switches to get wonky, especially after 15 years.

Some guys have disassembled ignition switches and got them working.

Avoid el cheapo aftermarket ignition switches.

You mean that goofy fork lock/ignition switch?? LOL Shoot a little WD-40 in it then turn the key through all of the positions. Switch contacts are copper and eventually, from the low mileage (lack of use) get corroded.

WD40 won't clean the contacts. Either disassemble it to clean it properly or replace it.

I think the WD40 worked. I haven’t had a problem since. Fingers crossed.

I’m a Navy veteran too. 1968-74. YN2. I was in VF-101 in 1969-71.
