It' funny up and till I got the 06, I never thought twice about running the '80 anywhere but now I must admit I kinda find my self on the 06 for any trip over a couple of hours long. the difference between the two is like night and day at least for comfort and is reliable but the ironhead is still more fun

I'm not even talking about the Ironheads and Shovels. It seems a bit rare to me to see a bike as old as my 2000 on here. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems everyone has a bike less than three years old on here. Not knocking it, it just seems interesting. Maybe the newness of the bike inspires people to go to these forums more. Once you've had your bike for 5 or 6 years you've done the mods you plan to do and lose interest in these boards. Or maybe I'm completely nuts.

When everybody says their bikes make noises and vibrates and stuff, you should of rode a Old Pan Head. I had a 1964 model that was still on 6 volts system when I sold it and it ran just fine. The clutch was hard as hell to pull also.

Yea my COLD natured 64 pan was a kicker. Kicker had a cleaner look back then. Got my Old pan from Riders Bike shopin Alabama when they was a Indy shop. They build theengine so good, it shook the ground, had andrews gears in it back then to make it run faster. I never got outrun by a Harley on it.Everytime I used to hit a 110, the speedo would break and the needle would bounce back and forth. Cost 125.00 to git the speedo fixed too. It had to be sent off.
Riders has a Harley dealership now in Trussville, Alabama.
I was young and full of ****, blood and Redneck Budweisertoo.

Either they don't surf the Forums, or they are too busy riding their bikes. Not to sound negative, but a lot of old time riders remember when bikes were not a dependable as the are now, and it was an adventure just to keep them running. Now people complain if the bike whines, vibrates, or hurt their butts. I have ridden for over 30 years and , I am impressed with the overall quality of my current Harley. Best one Yet.
