Default New Speedo issues

So over the summer I got caught in a hailstorm that destroyed the factory speedo on my '09 fat bob. The glass shattered and it got full of water. The unit was for all intents and purposes bricked. I just got a replacement unit 70900072A combination speedo and tach. When I try to marry it to my bike all I get is "NO CAL" followed by "No SPEED" and it just stays there. It won't download the mileage. I'm stuck. DoI need to go and bite the bullet and bring it to the dealer to get them to try and activate it?

It's there anything on the topic in your service manual? If not I guess a phone call to the MOCO is the next step..

Yeah, if you are unable to figure it out, take it to the Dealer. Pretty sure it isn't going to break the bank to have it activated or installed properly.

Probably odometer issues.....otherwise you could replace gauge and roll back mileage? Dealer required just like replacing ECM.

I recall reading about your exact issue several years ago. The speedo/tach combo unit is intended as an upgrade from a functional OE unit. The data transfer procedure needs to see data from the functional OE speedo. It won't transfer data from a "bricked" speedo. Unfortunately, that thread ended without a resolution. Good luck.

So after calls to several local moco service departments, they seem to be as stumped as I am. Bringing my bike to the dealer this week to see if they can sort it out.
