6'1" with long legs and a "98 Dyna. Stock mid-controls and seat were cramping me up. I don't care for forward controls so I got a LePera seat that sets you back 2" and some Further Forward controls that moves the foot position 2" forward. These controls are stock on 2017 and up Dynas. I also have highway pegs so I can stretch out if I want. This works for me.
Im 6 ft with short legs (30 inseam jeans fit best) and just got a Le Pera Daddy Long Legs (Daytona) on my Super Glide and it transformed the bike. I always felt cramped on the bike as well and this seat feels just right.
I kept the mid controls on mine and have highway pegs. I have my feet on the highways pegs about 70% of the time.
I am 5'-11" and have had the SG and now have the WG. I prefer the WG. Just fits better. I put 16" apes on the WG and a step up seat, longer reach controls and it's more comfortable than my old 06 Street glide (RIP old bitch)
6'-0" and 34" inseam here (not gonna' mention weight as I am still trying to work off the post COVID weight gain...).
I have a '16 FXDLS with factory mids and feel comfortable. I am looking at a front bar, maybe with highway pegs in case I feel the need to stretch out. I don't know if there are more forward mids than mine which seem like mid-mids...
Never got comfortable with boards or forwards but that's just me.
Ill speak from experience: they will find the bike like a dog finds dope. They may not mean to, but they will. You can hide it under some camo at your buddys moms cousins boyfriends sisters house. They will find it. If you buy it, she will find it.
Im 600 with 32 inseam and have a 2013 Super Glide Custom. It has forward controls installed in the form of floorboards (I guess they are considered forward but not sure it was this way when I purchased it.)
It is very comfortable for me and I wouldnt sell it for a million bucks. I also own a 16 Low Rider with mid controls that I feel cramped on and Ill probably change it to a forward control setup if I keep it. From what I can tell the forward controls make all the difference for a rider approaching 6.
Pics attached.
Doesnt that year model Dyna have further forward mid controls ?
Does anyone have the forward controls added but left the mid control pegs on just to be able to switch up the riding positions for your legs? Does it interfere with your feet when stopping and pulling away?
I'm riding a 2018 Road King FLHR. Bought it with 4800 miles on it. Stage 1 mods, 14" apes, Dyno Jet Tuner, all done within 2 weeks, then added a Wood Performance 22xe cam. Took it in for 15k service and new tires last week, also got new rear pads and rotor. Anyway, got a bunch of money in it, love riding it, can't stay out of the throttle since I had the cam put in, gas mileage sucks, LOL While at the dealership having service done a REALLY nice Dyna Super Glide caught my eye. I sat on it, looked it over, lusted, lusted, lusted. Wouldn't work for me because of the price and the fact it didn't have forward controls. Short story is I don't want to get rid of my RK, but I WANT a Dyna bad. I really like the Super Glide, but 6'0" tall might need a Wide Glide. I'll have to somehow hide another bike from my wife. Are they smart enough to notice 2 bikes instead of 1? Seriously, can a guy my height be comfortable on a Super Glide with forward controls? I would use it for a short trip bike (around town) or do I need to be looking at the Wide Glide. These Dyna's are so cool and old school looking.
I just purchased a 2004 Super Glide from my brother in law. He purchased it new and only put on 5,800 miles on it before his family life and health reasons stopped him from riding. He installed forward controls and had no problems. He is 6 ft tall with long legs. I am only 5 ft 6 inches tall with a 30 inch inseam. The only problem I have is I can not put my right foot on the ground without melting my pants. This is my first Harley as my other bike is a 2005 Honda GL1800 Goldwing. I do not remember having to worry about burnt legs since my days of riding a 1975 Kawasaki KH 400 Triple (2 cycle). Guess I have to learn to love the old technologies again. Still I absolutely love my Super Glide. Good luck with the wife. Never lose your dreams. Put a big mirror next to the RK so she gets used to seeing 2 bikes then she may not notice when the second bike looks different. You never know, it might work or not.
