Was that wiring going into the Iac or on the backbone for the IAC ?

If the lights are cutting off as well, check the ground wire where it connects to the engine. There may be another wire that splits off that and goes to the frame and cut the heat shrink to check the wires that go into that ring terminal. I had an issue on my 2009 where the copper stranding on the wire going to the frame broke at that spot and would cause very intermittent cut outs. The heat shrink was holding it most of the time just enough for it to work, but every once in a while engine and lights would all cut out and then come back on. I think I ordered a new cable but looking back I probably would have put a separate ring terminal on both wires and then connected them to the post/ground on the engine. Hope you get it figured out soon!

Yep agree, starting to look like the cable might be the issue even though it looks ok, I've got one on order already so we'll see, fingers crossed. Thanks for the info.

Had the same situation on a Sportster with corrosion and broken cable under the heat shrink and find a spot on my 02 Dyna's battery to frame ground wire last year.

If my Km's to miles is right, that's 80,000 miles. Check in the DIY section for information on how to check the Crank position Sensor voltage. But, the problem is the CKP is notorius for dying at any time. Not that hard to change and relatively cheap. The CKP triggers the firing signal to the ECM, to the coil to the plugs.
