Looks nice enough, but I still prefer the looks of the leather ones. I went with the leather bags from Harley Davidson, made specifically for the Dyna. Looks great. I will work on getting a picture posted.
They are excellent quality, sturdy and you can fit a fair amount of stuff in them: one gallon of milk in one, and a 12 pack of Bud Light in the other (!). They are water-proof also - ridden in nasty south Texas rain and everything in them stayed dry. You can't lock them though, so hard bags win in that regard.
Drexor69, Thanks for the pics. The bags look good with the lines of the WG. I have the same bike and spent $200 on the SAC rack bag before Sturgis because I could'nt decide which saddle bags to go with. Are you going to try ghost brackets later? The bags look narrow, what have you been able to stuff in them? Will a gallon of milk fit? My bike is my grocery getter too.
I just checked. I only have 1 gallon of milk at the house but it looks like you could nearly fit 3 gallons (front to back) without touching the sides and plenty of extra room on the top. I'll try to get some pictures in a bit.
Don't know about the Ghost Brackets yet, I looked in but couldn't justify $150 for them (in my mind) IF I could install the ones that came with the kit without them looking like crap.
That's where I originally found these. The outfit is up in San Leandro, only about 20 min's from my house. They don't have a show room but I convinced Alan (the sales rep I was talking with) to meet me there in San Leandro (saved $45 in shipping).
After seeing the "universal" brackets I was a little worried about how it would look but the bags sit up high enough that everything (mounting gear) is covered. I've still got my detatchable sissy bar but I did go get some longer stainless steel bolts to replace the ones that came in the kit, I was concerned they (the original ones) might not be getting enough bite.
Drexor69 - holy crap, 3 gallons!? I might be able to fit 2 on a side, but the weight limit for the HD leather bags is only 7lbs per side. A gallon of milk is pretty darn close to that and I wouldn't want them to break off in mid ride...
For a trip, given my weight limit, looks like I would only be able to carry clothes and what not in the bags. I would need to put heavier stuff in a bag on the passenger seat.
Good point, I wasn't thinking....! Mine are only held on by two bolts at the top of the bags. Your point about bracing them down low makes perfect sense and would probably make them hold more.
