Default Krator or T-sport style fairing for older Dyna

I just put new 6.5” straight risers and moto bars on my ‘96 FXD. I put the speedo back on the clamp like stock. I really like the visibility and riding position of this setup. When I went to put my Memphis Shades batwing back on the speedo won’t clear the windshield - it lands right where he fairing curves in (higher or lower bars might work).

I was planning on switching to a t-sport style fairing anyways, so I’m looking at a Krator or similar just to get something on there for an upcoming trip. It looks like it’s just designed for a ‘99 up Dyna, but looking at pics I can’t figure out what’s different between a 99+ and my ‘96.

Has anyone mounted one to an older Dyna and have any tips - or know of another fairing that fits?

Do you have a bottom mounted headlight? If not, you're going to need that

After watching some YouTube videos I figured that out. I just ordered a different style one on Amazon for now to try. I’ll probably go to a t-sport style when I have more time.

Is there anyway to flip the top mounting clamp in reverse - might clear the batwing?

So I ended up going with this one - a cheapie from Amazon due to needing it quickly. I actually was going to get the Burley version (looks identical) but it only comes in opaque black windscreen and I wanted smoked even though the view is a bit distorted.

It went on easy enough with a little trial and error. Still a few things I could clean up, but overall I’m pleased. Definitely not the wind protection of the batwing, but good enough and my head is in cleaner air with this one. At 6’1 I’m looking well over the top.
