Are you sure its welded? When I grab the bracket it wiggles a bit loose as if the "pipe" is just stuck in the two holes and then fastened with a screw in the frame.

On the 06 the upper belt guard mounted to the back of the passenger peg but looking in to it I see on the 05 it didn't. Here's a thread about your specific application though. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...ide-glide.html
They became a bit dark.. but it looks like there only is one screw as you see in the picture.
There is nothing attached to the upper guard atleast.
Thanks for the link to the other thread, he had a wide glide 04 so maybe it differs but maybe not.
Im gonna try to see if i can unscrew it and see. Maybe its welded as WS6 Formula says but maybe not

Sorry for the confusion, I was referring to the belt guard brackets that are welded on the 2005 and earlier swing arms, 2006 and later the front belt guard bracket is bolted on.

It looks like it is a slip fit and not welded. Remove the bolt and pull the footrest bracket out.

Huge thanks! Will do this weekend. Does it really protect anything so its a good idea to put something else or a lower belt guard or is it just good to go?
I already removed the right one without scratching or removing rear fender. However the frikkin bolt is too long so it just sits there still.

I want to remove the passenger pegs and the bracket on the left side.
Is there any downside to doing this?
Is the bracket also a belt guard in some way so i should change its for another part?

The bracket that you want to remove is only for the footrest, it has nothing to do with the belt guards. The belt guards attach to the swing arm: https://shop.suburbanharley.com/oem-...e99ffc10d56c/y
