I realize this is an old thread, from 2022 but thought I'd add my choice for those who are still looking. I have these same IRONBAGS on my '85 FXR. They hug the frame, using a custom hard shell back plate and protect everything inside from ANYTHING. I've ridden through some serious weather without problems or getting anything inside wet. The only downside to them is cost. If you want TOP quality saddlebags, especially if you have the bike you plan to keep...buy the best and you'll never be sorry. OTOH...if you want saddlebags to "get you by" until you find another bike....buy the hundred dollar bags at your local flea market or rally.
