When I ride my bike just to cruise around it seems like everything is a bit more clunky and labored, like cruising at 2000-3500 RPM’s.
When I I do a more spirited run with friends and family and bang the gears around 3500-5000 everything seems to gel better. To me the bike seems like that’s the G spot.
I know these 222’s are supposed to be very low to mid cams, they seem like a perfect cam for a light Dyna
The 222 cams are better for a heavier touring bike, or if you just like lower end power and tend to short shift. But they still make peak torque at 3700rpm.
It sounds like youre lugging the bike a bit at 2000rpm, cruising Im never below 2400, and usually 2600-3100. Below 2000 you can definitely be lugging the bike and you will hear clunking and get some jerkiness from the compensator loading and unloading from the power pulses of the engine. With only 2 cylinders firing the pulses arent near as smooth as youd have with a big V8 that is happy from 1400-2500rpm while cruising. So the higher RPM really smooths the engine out.
