Cam timing is definitely a critical step in the process.Too small and your giving away top end and too big and your losing the bottom end.I,ve seen lot's of guys overcam motors only to be disappointed with how they perform.Sounds like you guys both have builds your happy with and that's what matters.I personally don't think the theory bigger is better when it comes to cams.Lot's of times the smaller cammed motors will run off from these monster cams in motors that are not set up to need all that cam.Lotsa folks want that nasty idle from a big cam but you just can't equate noise to horsepower.

I heard a Vrod destroyer a while back at the drags, It was noisy and must have made alittle HP to run a 9.40!
Darkside your dead on...Most of the bikes I hear that are loud today, are Just loud.... and most sound like untuned mismatchedparts.. Loud aint got nothing to do with HP. When someone fires up in the parking lotYou'll Know, Sure it's loud but Loud is not what your hearing. It's all the right combination and tuned, and when there rideing off there is no need to hammer it, everyone allready knows.
