Another option is having the bike tuned which usually makes them run richer and when they run richer, they run cooler because there is more fuel in the mixture to cool the combustion chamber. Cams with greater valve overlap will make it run cooler too, perhaps even more so than running richer.
I installed the Jugs on my 08 Fat Bob, they work great at keeping the engine cool, but at times, the hot air coming thru can make your right leg a little toasty.
The mighty mite fan is a good first start. Adding a 10 row Jagg oil cooler is highly recommended. And add a remote oil filter relocation kit to put the hot oil a little more exposed to dissipate heat. If you let your oil get too hot in stop and go traffic, that oil can thin and pressure can actually drop to near or to 0 PSI. The Jagg oil cooler and the remote oil filter kit can be modified to fit either side of the down tubes. That way both can be used. Best of luck.
I’ve had Mighty Mites on 4 bikes. The hottest running bike was the Freewheeler trike. The engine temp would hit 315 very quickly in city traffic. With the Love Jugs, the engine temp never got above 250, even sitting stopped in traffic. That’s a 65 degree drop in engine temp. There is no oil cooler of any kind that can drop engine temps by that much - period.
FYI - when your engine temp gets above 270 degrees, the ECU starts retarding the ignition timing dramatically to try to cool the engine. Dyno tests have shown a loss of 12 hp and 12 ft lbs of torque from the retarded timing. Check out the DK Custom Products videos on this.
My brother has a heritage softail with added dual cooling fans mounted on the left side of the motor. Bike is built to stage 2 and can run all day in heavy traffic around NYC. He flips a switch when he is in heavy traffic. works great. I will likely get some for my 04 Superglide.
