I hate the set up. Worst tank I've ever had to fill up. I always have to use the towel technique.

I found my technique after wasting a few gallons on the side of my tank. I just go realll slllooowww while filling it. I only pull the trigger less than 1/4. It takes a minute (or whatever) to fill it, but 4 gallons goes pretty quickly even at 1/4 trigger.

We have the Vapor boot in parts of Missouri..I usually "cheat" the boot and slide it back with my hand to see where the fuel is. Also whenI get towards the top I place the nozzle in at where the lip edge or a little more of the nozzle meets the lip edge of the filler bung. Works like a charm without any mess. Like Shoptroll said you will get to "know" which stations and pumps are bike friendly. I also always put my filler cap in the pumphandle rest (I sit on my bike while filling) and when I am done, I grab the cap and place the open plastic tank side end over the head of the filler spigot till I get it transferred back to the Pump box. No mess No muss..

thrillseeker describes exactly what I do. Patience is key, along with a paper towel and some common sense.

Of all the problems to have, I'd say filling the gas tank on your Harley isn't so bad.

Start a thread about the price of gas. That's the real thorn inour side.
