Im 6-3 too and I love the mids. I think too that the forward controls are actually a bit shorter than the HWY pegs. Ive got a buddy with a Night Train and forwards and his bike seems cramped compared to mine. Ive also sat on another Dyna with forwards and though I didnt compare side to side, the forwards on it seemed shorter too. Its not really an inconvenience either to shift with your heal while its rested on the HWY peg, brake too. Id say just spring for HWY pegs at first and see how it goes.
While I love the look of the Nitetrain, they sit a tad to low for me. (I'm 6'7") Then again most bikes are to small for me.
Even with forwards stock, I would have had to change them out anyway, so I picked up and FXD and did the 3" extended forwards on that bike. Little higher ride height and not quite as cramped as I felt on the softy. The Bob just never quite did it for me, don't know why. Have sat on quite few at dealers after buying my bike and still satisfied with my choice. The factor here for me would probably be the price difference.
this is another option that you have.....boards are comfortable, these extend out an additional 3 1/2 inches....LOLIFE.................................. ...........
I have an 07 and love the way the bike feels.....get forward controls ......But its your money and your choice......RIDE AS MANY DIFFERENT BIKES AS YOU CAN....then go for it
I have a 06 bob and love it I am 5' 7" and have the forward controls and If a was 1 inch shorter I would have a hard time riding it. I think you would fit on it great. I was also looking at the night train but test rode them both and love the way the bob handles.
I'm gonna go against the grain here and say I prefer mids to forwards, and I'm 6'3. I've had bikes in the past with forwards and while they're OK in a straight line, I don't like how they affect my balance/center of gravity in the curves. Maybe it's due to years of riding dirtbikes and sportbikes, but I feel more in control with my feet under me.
Another reason I chose the Street Bob is the high bars. I like the look of drag bars, but these are more comfortable (and look cool) since I don't have to slump my shoulders to reach for them.
It's all personal preference of course, so ride or sit on as many bikes as you can to see what works for you.
