I'm going to be buying a dyna in the near future and thought I had it narrowed downtothe low rider but heres the problem the super glide is $3000 cheaper. I've already done some looking to upgrade the super glide and this is what I came up with so far that I would need 2-up seat, seat bumpers, pass pegs and mounting kit, highway pegs and mounting kit, am I missing anything else?
If you do not mind the FXD speedo on the bars vs. on the tank with the low rider and do not think you will want to change that item then save some cash on purchase and use the difference in price to buy the 2-up items you will require. Not an expert here, just my humble opinion.

Narosar has it right. Comfort first. I would rather have my speedo and tach on the bars. Have to take my eyes off the road to read the tank mounts. Takes some gettinng used to.
Once you're comfy, you can pay as you go and there are a lot of items that come up cheap on this site and ebay. Good luck & ride safe.

Low rider also sits and handels a little different than the SG... How tall are you? If you aint into the chrome scene so much get the SG... It all depends.. Its cheaper to buy the lowrider in the long run if chrome and such are essential to you. Just my .02

I did buy the SG for the reasons you mentioned, I have added seat, pegs, mountings, throwover bags, stg 1 dnld, risers, slip-ons, A/C.. at least another $1500.00 . I paid $12,500 for my '07 and thought I got a deal, you are getting a good one at $11,000 !
I really liked the lowrider too, but I feel good about my choice now. I agree, you'll dump $ into whatever you buy, might as well save at the get go.

Also keep in mind you will be limited on handlebars. I'm in the process of switching to a street bob tank. Do a search on speedos there is a lot of info. Smiley

I would say spend the extra money and get the lowrider. You'll be happier in the future. You will spend more then $3000 in upgrades but you will have the bike you want.

i bought the SG over the Lowrider, I knew I wanted aftermarket rims, add my own chrome, do engine work, buy aftermarket seat.

with all the extra stuff I knew I wanted to buy, I could not justify the extra $$ for a lowrider!

Here's what I done to mine. I added a custom seat, exhaust, Stage One Download, Backrest, Highway Pegs, Passenger Pegs and Brackets, PCIII, and other numerous things. Part of the enjoyment is picking out the accessories you want to personalize your bike with. I went in to buy and Electra Glide, but that FXD kept drawing me to it and that's what I went out the door with. I've got rims to get, a sport fairing, hard bags, build the engine, add the Baker transmission upgrade, and the list goes on and on.

AFblacksheep,

I had similar questions before I bought my FXDC a few months ago.

I would suggest considering the FXDC, Super Glide Custom.
It's already set up for 2 up,has mid controls. Has a boat load of chrome, the price for an 08 is cheaper than the 07 price as well.

Things to consider. Size of tank, 4.8 gal on LR vs 5.1 on the FXDC. Spokes on FXDCvsMags on LR. FXD and FXDC have silver engines, LR has the Black engine. I could not justify spending the 3k for the LR when I bought my fxdc.

Regarding riding two up...

The salesman suggested that my wife sit on the back of both to get a feel for it on both of the bikes. She actually prefered the feeling of the FXDC over the LR. She said she felt too high relative to the rider, (ME) on the LR vs Feeling Just right on the FXDC.

I personally prefer the Fat Tank and the Spoked wheels on the FXDC,and the 2k or so savings was nice as well.

Can't make a bad choice here, Good luck with your decision.
