I've got the same is'sue with a '98 FLHR. On those models the bold goes all the way back to a threaded receiver mounted in a plate which is mounted to the side of the engine
I'm going to attempt the same solution to see if it works.

I find it less annoying to read a post here or there suggesting someone introduce themselves in the new member area, than to read numerous posts condemning and bad mouthing others for making a suggestion they don't like.....
