Default High Comp kit....

Ok..

In answer to Mud, Mentor and my fellowforum brothers/ bench / keyboard racers.. , questions on this high comp kit (and nope I wasntliquored upwhen I wrote it earlier LOL) that I have been talking about. The following information is/ are excerpts as best as I can remember them from my conversation with D. the local HD shop, head wrench. So without further ado...

I telephoned the dealership and spoke with him on the morning of 08/15

I told him I had some specific questions about the High Comp kit that we had discussed earlier and was wondering about some of the specifics in the kit and "how" it worked. I also asked if the numbers he claimed he was getting from the kit were SAE numbers or of a different type of dyno measurement and he said that they were SAE.

I asked him to send me a break down in an e-mail of this "kit"? to which he declined saying he didnt have the time and didnt "do that". [:'(]OK ... whatever... just tell me some of the specifics as to the componentry of this kit and I added that another local dealership was doing a 100/100 type kit and he stated "well they use a flat top type piston and dont really get SAE numbers that are that high and he added I have been doing this kit for awhile I have figured out what alot of these morons dont know". (Really) [8D]

Here is a list of some of the main components that we talked about in the kit or at least whatI could get out of him as he acted as if it was some sorta great big "state secret" you'da thought I was trying to pull teeth...

Wiseco pistons (he didnt specify model / number) ( I am also assuming they are a dome style of sorts)
but I'll bet that they are at least 10:1 or better...

Aftermarket performance cylinder jugs, matched specificallyto the pistons
So much for mySE jugs...[:@]

Chrome molly type ring set up

adjustable pushrods

unknown about gasket thicknesses

SE 203 cams .. (huh?) chain driven still

very little mill work on the head but including a set ofcompression releases

all for the low low price of about 2100 skins..

He preferred the PCIII to the SERT as he said it dialed in alot easier.. and didnt require the dyno time..
(plus skips the 02 sensors as we all know) adding that I should stay with my SE II slip ons and stock pipes over say afullV&H exhaust systemwhich I had been interested in..

When I said to him that these numbers (92-93 hp and 110- 112 Tq) sounded like numbers generated by a full stroker kit, he said:

"Yeah I know... thats the beauty of this build. it generates reasonable HP less than 100.. where alot ofengines unless big dollars are spent, will shell something.... and break..and the torque is generated in the lower to mid range endwhere it is usable" and he added that no matter how good any build.. "You can break it." I agreed.

Well I intend to do some more snooping on this... and what I findI will get back to the forum on,but I did find a "close" build on this site

http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/hplist_twin_cam.htm

go down to the line where Canton cycles did a build.. keep in mind these are some older numbers..
that uses the SE 203s along with some other goodies..

D. has several racing Harleys that he has been quarter miling with and winning with for some time.. so I would venture a guess that he is a very knowledgeable engine builder

well you know what I know for now...

I'll probably edit this asI am sure i forgot to mention something..

Cheers

Yep had to edit...

Default RE: High Comp kit....

My buddy at work has pretty much the same build, with the flat tops and stock heads compresion is around 9.4 to 1, with a thinner head gasket it could go alittle higher.

The bike makes good torque, but my buddy weighs about 230 lbs, and he would likemorepower,
he rode my 10.5 95in. and was flabergasted by the added power I have!

hes jelous for sure!

the cool thing for you is that your injected and the SERT when tuned properly gives outstanding results on its own!

Id say get gear drive cams, but it is more money! Id say do some head work too but thats extra $$ too!
BUT, If your bike makes you happy when its done, then thats all that counts!
