More air is only achieved by changing internal parts, mainly camshaft or put a blower on it. An air cleaner doesnt put air in the motor. Its going to take what it needs. You can restrict it but most air cleaners are not made that way, especially aftermarket.
you mean you never took the air cleaner off a 454 Vet . Or off of a 6 cyclinder Duster and hammered it ?

butt of horse, and it sounded cool, engine didnt get more power anyone from the carb era of cars, mainly mid 70s and backwards did it or knew someone FI stole they tomfoolery
Always wondered if these heavy breathers exhibit some slight bit of ram air effect at higher speeds, or at least the ones with the filters with the open center design.
Have a factory ram air Firebird and another car with a ram air system effectively connecting the throttle body directly to the front grills via a smooth path, but cant say Ive had a way to measure it at high rates of speeds. Id like to think its more than marketing but who knows.
Between a potential ram effect? and longer runner design, perhaps theres a reason Im seeing some race bikes with this style air cleaner. Maybe its just because the larger filter area, I dunno.

All filters create some resistance. Granted, there is a point of diminishing returns, but any resistance will reduce manifold pressure, and thus power.

I think you mean vacuum not pressure? Unless it's Blown.
I have a heavy breather on my SB. I've never hit my leg on it. As far as rain goes, got caught in mild showers for about 70 miles last summer with no sock and didnt notice any issues. I like the way it looks on my bike, but I'm a bit of a chrome *****.
