My heart is not into working on this bike just yet, yet this morning I installed the clutch release cover(with new fat bob clutch cable installed in it) using a new gasket, and installed the transmission drain plug using a new o ring....
...it's progress!
I put a dab of blue loctite on the clutch release cover screws and tightened them to 108 in-lbs. The drain plug to 21 ft-lbs
It's getting fresh new Red Line trans fluid.

Update: finished installing the fat bob clutch cable - it is a perfect fit/length. Adjusted the clutch lever free play(the main clutch adjustment was done not long ago), refilled the transmission, and reinstalled one muffler that had to be removed to access the clutch release cover screws.

I ordered these heavy duty leather grip covers to put on the Joker Machine open end knurled metal grips - should be more comfortable than a metal knurled grip. NO Tassles.
Probably not the look you are after, but I was shocked at how much more comfortable those bars became when I angled them up.
Aye. How tall are you? I'm 5'7".
I am not certain where they will wind up being adjusted to. They feel good now where they are just by sitting on it. A road test will surely tell the tale.
PS: I'm working on the front brake master cylinder and line tonight.
Once you get on the road you will get them dialed, they are great bars. I struggle to think what I would change them for. I guess some apes, but for now I like them too much.
Bike is looking great, that 21 on the front really completes the look
Update: the front brake line is installed, filled, and bled. The bike now has front brakes. You can just make out how the line is routed in these pictures:
The bike sure needs a good bath and detail. I'll continue the detail process later in this thread. Thanks for looking!
PS the front brake line is a 38" long Magnum front brake line - an awesome fit for these drag bars:
You might want to seriously consider using the plugs/connectors. If for some reason you need to pull the bars, a connector is easy to take apart. It's fairly easy to just remove the pins from the connectors. Well as long as you know how. My manual shows how to take them apart.
