I pulled mine off a month or two ago. While i agree that it looks much better with the overall feel of the bobber look (and just makes it look bad*ss), it's not fun to ride thru any sort of water unless you need a refresher. Which comes in handy during the hot summer. The biggest problem i had was that anything that splashed that wasn't totally clear ended up staining the wrinkle black covers on various parts of the bike. Took almost a full can of S100 to get those parts black again. I ended up putting the fender back on.
As for stability issues, i can't say, but it seems silly to have such a thin piece of metal to provide good stability for the front end.
Try cutting your rear fender in half so it ends about 2 inches from your seat- goes better with the lack of a front fender and really adds to the fun in the rain, or even a wet road, when that rooster tail your rear tire throws up runs up your back Don't ask me how I know...

Ahhh, the pleasures of rooster tails - guess ya all can figure how I know !!! LOL

Definitely - both flathead powered - roadster has a '48 Merc, 3/4 race isky 400 jr. cam, 3 deuces, .30 over. Coupe has '53 merc, .60 over, 3 deuces. Both w/electronic Mallory distributors but a bit over carbed, look cool though. More pics in my album and here:
