Well, after searching through the forum and reading different posts both pro and con I removed my front fender. I was watching the speed network and they kept showing bobbers and choppers without the front fender and I got off my chair went to the garage and removed mine. Took it for my first ride tonite after work and of course it rained... on the bright side it looks killer, and I seemed to get more water on me from above than from my front tire...... sooo it's stayin off. In fact lookin for a few other items to take off also...... suggestions.
I removed my front fender too, to continue the bobber theme and to cut weight I removed the particulate compbox from the side of the motor. A lot of forum members have also chopped the fuel turbinator but don't do it if your bike is equipped as Maryland emissions.
Can anyone explain this?
WHAT THE HELL IS A PARTICULATE CCOMPBOX AND FUEL TURBINATOR ANYWAY?
ALSO, I HAD MY FENDER OFF AND IT WEIGHS CLOSE TO NOTHING. LOOKS WISE THOUGH, EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERERENT OPINION, SORRY FOR THE CAPS

Just do some searches on the Fuel Turbinator. I don't know if it has been discontinued on 08 bikes but it was necessary on recent harleys due to the shape of the bottom of the tank and the thin metal of the tank the engine heated up the fuel too much before it was delivered to the motor. The turbinators cooled the fuel to allow for better combustion. There are a lot of people here who know more about it than me, but I think it helps keep down emissions since the combustion of cooler fuel is more efficient. Damn EPA!
The particulate compbox or harmful compostions box is only on Maryland Emissions equipped bikes.
Welcome to the forum revolution - agree with the look sans fender - took mine off to modify it and liked it so much w/o, that it's staying that way - also have a powder coated SE fork brace, so front end is still quite solid. Just avoid the dirt roads (or go slow!!). Unfortunately, I live on one and often get pinged by small pebbles, oh well, small price to pay I guess.
The tried and true method from the old days was to start taking stuff off until it's unrideable, then replace the last thing you took off. Works every time!
Although I'm sure that some are onto me, I won't let the B.S. continue on any longer. There's no such thing as a fuel turbinator or particulate compbox or a Maryland emissions package. I knowRevolution figured out my joke parts by his muffler bearing post. I wouldn't want anyone to go out to their bike trying to find the fuel turbinator. I would actually. Anyway, be safe and besure to check your battery pellets and blinker fluid before riding.
