My neighbor lady, whose house this happen at, is also a good looking "CRAZY" female. Her husband is a doctor and naval commander. She calls me, from Japan, the very first morning after her husband leaves for a week, and talks for 2 hours, telling me she is going to come back because she is unahppy and wants to stay at my house, with her two kids, and I'm a married man. I say, "NOPE, ain't going to happen". I thought I had moved out of the trailer park years ago.
The cat story does sound suspicious but who really cares when it comes down to it! What I would worry about is he was thrown from his bike and did not get medical attention!!!!
We all have had a few beers out on our bike but know our limits! Mine is the two beer limit that is such a clichĂŠ in my world as a Paramedic.
Everyone that has been drinking always says 2 beers to the cops but once they are in my box I explain that the cops are not here and I need to know for your well being and then the truth comes out.
If he was confused after the accident that shows a diffuse axon injury to his brain and worse could latter develop a dural or subdural hematoma! My opinion is he needs to see a doc and explain what happened and make sure all is ok!!! Nice to cover for your broâs from the man but he needs to be evaluated! The doc will not contact the man unless someone else was hurt!
Guys, let me be the first to say that if this guy was drunk then he would be on his own. I said, "he may have had A Beer", but I don't know. Benefit of the doubt here, okay. As for the cat story, it's very believable. Why? There was a "feral" cat left at this house, when the folks left for Japan. Since then it has taken up at the ALE (Alcohol Law Enforcement) officier's house and has a litter or two of additonal cats, which are also feral.
I also checked this guy out and I've had some pretty good training over the years as well. I'm the guy you would want to HELP YOU in case you went down. No Blood, No Guts, No Broken Bones, No Sprains, No Erractic Eye Movements. It was more of being Knock Out from a fist fight. He regained himself fairly quickly. He has only been in the neighorhood for a few weeks, military move. He was only five house away from being home; his wife was waiting for him; and he went to the doctors on his own. If only this had been one of you, ticketed and dragged off to jail after a several hour visit to the ER while your wife and kids were waiting at home not knowing where you were.
I understand who and what a DRUNK is, and what should happen to them as a result of their actions. From some of the replies here, I certainly would not want to live in Your Neighborhood's. Really Cold Hearted.
I'm at the "Double Nickel" stage of life. While I've made some major mistakes along the way, I have learned a thing or two as well. I did not interfere with the LEO's or EMT's duties. This was a grey area and only slightly grey at best. I just could not see a black and white issue with this guy getting a ticket for an "unsafe movement" just because somebody saw something from the safety of their home and called the LAW without checking on him first. Do you remember "Gladys Kravitz" from "Bewitched"? If not then maybe you should check out a rerun of "Bewitched".
Personally, I don't think a motorcycle should be out after dark anyway. Bikers are generally a greasy and unruling bunch and should be dealt with harshly and severely. Hell - when I'm in the car, they shouldn't be out on the road anyway. Oh Yea! a biker DESERVES anything that happens to 'em because they should not be on something so dangerous.... next time I see a "biker down", I'll just keep on going because I have learned my lesson.
Sorry, not trying to put you down or anything, but you yourself said that you ran "interference" for the guy, and if it was only the possibility that he may have had one beer I fail to see the reasoning behind runninginterference. As far as dealing with drunk drivers I have no pity for them. The last one I dealt with piled his car up into thetree in the parkway in frontof my house and totaled his car. I ran out in my boxers to help outand to assist not knowing he was drunk. By the time I was along side his car, he was climbing out while picking up full beer cans and stuffing them in his pocket. He tried to run and I held him until the cops arrived. I've got small children and have no tolerance for that crap. While one or two beers may keep you legal in the eye's of the law it does cause impairment. Got any kids or grandkids? What if the mail box had been a kid? Would one or two beer's still be OK?
Again, aiding and assisting the injured is commendable and admirable.
Jonesy, I too have no compassion for a drunk. Have had to deal with way too many within my own family. I did assess the situation, it was late at night, and the incident with the cat is probably true, even though I did not see the accident happen.
This is one of those "button" issues for many folks. My "button" is on lousy dealer service and I have been very vocal on that one. My kids are grown and now I have grandkids. You're right, I give no leeway when it comes to them or any other's kids. I appreaciate the additional info and I understand where you are coming from in that regards.
No trouble, just making conversation. I'm sure you assessed the sistuation and you went with your gut instincts which by the way are usually correct. Anyhow, ride safe and smart.
That was really nice that you helped out a biker in need. There are a bout 20 Feral cats in my Driveway when I get home at night from work. I tell them they need to move. The ones that don't I pick-up and gently move. ( Remember Feral cats are wild.) In return for my kindness they keep my property rodent free. Be kind to cats or they may use your seat as a catbox.
