RE: Detachable sissy bar bracket - trouble snapping in?
What I do is put the front slots in the right spots and then lower the rear down while holding open the clamps, Once they are seated where they are to go, I just push down and it locks in. Not really too hard to do once you get the feel, It doesn't need to be upright On the stand works fine. Hope this is clear and helps

Just got mine put on & sometimes have the same problem. Leave the sissy bar on for a few days & jsut let it settle in place. Then remove it & try snapping it in place a few times by sliding the front of it in place first, then lowering the back of it down while slightly holding in the 2 blacks tabs on either side simutaneously. You should hear a "click" as each back end snaps into place. No click = not in right. After doing it a few times you'll get the hang of it as I did.

Mine is a little tought then I like but I slide the front in first and just press down, I do need to use a little force. I does snap in and works fine.
RE: Detachable sissy bar bracket - trouble snapping in?
I just installed one and at first it wouldn't fit. I had to set the front part in and loosen the front mounting bolts and then fit the rear in and after that I re-tightened the front mounting bolt. It is still a liitle tough to fit.

Thanks, I have to get this thing snapped in and then I'll just leave it for a month or so.... and then do what you said snapping it in and out.
The key is getting this sucker in, I tried for 20 min yesterday before I said screw it...
A month...no...I'd say a good week anyway. Sometimes these parts that are made so quickly at the factory that they're all slightly & uniquely different in their own ways. I did my sissy bar with my buddy who bought the same exact one & we did ours at the same time & his does snap in place alot smoother than mine...where as mine needs a little more muscle to hear those "clicks." We put everything on the same exact way. I'd say after a week if your still having problems with it bring it back to Harley & have them give you another one. Don't wait too long though, good luck!
