Default Different bars on stock wiring and cables

What’s the highest height I could go on my 06 fxdl with my bars without having to change any cables or wiring? Would 8” be alright to go with?

2. Will my cables reach a set of Ape Hangers?

In most cases, extended cables will be needed to fit any Ape over 10” or 12" in height, depending on the bike. It’s always a good idea to measure your cables before you purchase a set of Ape Hanger Handlebars, especially if you’d like to avoid extending the cables.

Simply measure the amount of free cable from your riser to the switch housing, stretching it out straight, and compare this measurement to the dimensions of your favourite Handlebar.

We have listed the cable length for each Handlebar at the bottom right hand corner of its dimension sheet. It’s always a good idea to allow an extra 1-2 inches cable length to route along the curved bar, as the dimension listed is a straight-line distance.

This is from the Barcraft page. Excellent bars and I have just ordered a second set form them. Great folk to deal with.

That should be ok, you may need to tweak the front brake line a little bit. Just take your time and bend it real slow.

So because of the stock risers that are 4” high, the total rise came out to be 12”. The stock wiring, clutch cable, and throttle and idle cables were long enough just barely.

The stock brakeline was 4” short, so I built out a goodridge build a line on J&P to 47”. Just waiting on that to come in.

Had to order a new throttle tube as well. The grips that were on it had it integrated. Went with some Biltwell grips which fit fine over the stock tube even though they said it wouldn’t.
