If you decide to swap out calipers, consider the HHI 4 or 6 Piston Caliper. The brakes on my SG are awesome. We work directly with HHI and I can help you out with pricing. They're clean looking and perform beyond expectation. Chrome, Black anodize and Polished.

I have now riden my Dyna for about 600 miles and the front brake leaves a lot to be desired. On the 2007 Dyna you don't have the option of installing dual discs..don't ask me why, but it is a fact.

Actually you can. You have to use V-rod lowers, a 11/16" master cylinder. And a Dual Disk 1" axle wheel.

I am in the process of doing just that.

Thanks for all the response I got from you guys; I will definetly go for a 6 pot calliper and try to avoid the twin disc arrangement for the time being, since for one it makes the front too clustered for a Dyna and two, I’m installing the Road Winders and the front wheel does not allow for an extra disc. So Jim or R Racing… where did you get your six pot (from the pics it looks like a chromed BILLET), anyway that will be my first choice and if it is aluminum better for weight reasons. Proper brake pads are also half of the story, but aftermarket callipers do normally supply them. Jim, did you leave the standard master cylinder (hope so, because I just received the chromed version that I’m about to install); looking forward to hearing from you.
Must also check the HHI as well.

And as for Madelf, you grumpy old man, nothing wrong with the set-up or my head; the bike has only done 600 miles so the brakes have not bedded in properly yet. It is only that knowing a hell of a lot about bikes, I know as a fact that the improvement I get when they are well run-in will still be poor compared to what I expect from a 6-700 lb bike.
Do you remember when cars didn’t have the servo brake system? Somethimes you had to stand on the pedal with both your feet…well that’s how I feel now. The sports bikes have double or triple the braking power and you learn to feather them. I’m only asking for a 30-50 % improvement. You have gravel and steep entrance? That’s more than I could handle for sure… have you tried stopping half way up as I have to every day and taking out your sidestand while not allowing your engine to stall?
“People who have more experience or have ridden more bikes for comparison can feel free to tell me how full of it I am, but that's my two cents worth.” Well I consider myself one and I can only tell you that if you are happy with your brakes that is fine with me. Thank you for the trigger style lever option, I will certainly look them out.

And as for Madelf, you grumpy old man,

Got me figured out quick, didn't ya?

will still be poor compared to what I expect from a 6-700 lb bike.
Well, now... that's a different thing. I have no doubt the braking could be improved. I just think the failings you describe seem slightly exagerated. Comparing to two older Yamahas and a Kawaski (all lighter than my Dyna) the braking seems quite reasonable to me. If you're used to something that can stand itself on the front wheel, I'm sure it seems weak.
Do you remember when cars didn’t have the servo brake system? Somethimes you had to stand on the pedal with both your feet…

Nope. I remember cars without power brakes. My old chevelle had four wheel manual drums, and that car would stop so hard it'd darn near throw me through the windshield without all that much effort. The only vehicle I ever had to stand on the brakes was trying to stop an old jeep truckthat had the power brakes fail.

You have gravel and steep entrance? That’s more than I could handle for sure… have you tried stopping half way up as I have to every day and taking out your sidestand while not allowing your engine to stall?

I've stopped halfway up and restarted without stalling, yes. But why would I take the sidestand out with the engine running (not that I could see it being an issue)? Can't get off the bike that way. If you put it in neutral and try to leave it running, it'll roll back & fall over. If you're stopping to park, just shut the engine off in gear and it'll stay put.

Thank you for the trigger style lever option, I will certainly look them out.
The trigger levers givemore gripping power to activate the brake, butI wouldn't expect more actual stopping power from the brake itself. They might help if hand strength is the issue (and it'll probably help with the one-finger feathering). But I still say ifthe front brake won'thold the bike from rolling backon a hill, something isn't right.

I'm sure thebeefier caliper and betterpads won't hurt anything though. Best of luck.
