I have been asked and have no idea, but what are the consoles on our tanks made of? You know, where our speedometer goes. Not that I care but someone told me they are made of plastic since 2006. Battery and fuse cover are solid steel and that I know well since I was installing my PCIII on the Dyna. IMHO, it wouldn't hurt them to be made in plastic; there is also american plastic or....

 

im pretty sure they are metal but you could check it with a magnet

Chromed aluminum maybe? Mine looks metal and pretty sure it's not plastic, but I could be wrong...

 

Not plastic. Never tried the magnet thing, but drilled a hole in the dash on my 06, and it was definately metal of some type or another.

 

Then it must be an alloy, some kind of cast aluminum, just as I thought.

'04 Dyna is mild steel. A magnet sticks to it...
Good quality chrome plated too.
I know cause mine is sitting on a shelf - just tried the magnet. dd

 

Flyer, I'm not sure on the 07,
but I will bet it is steel.
Not aluminum, and certainly not plastic.

My 06, I modified and welded with plain steel wire.

I've got this Do-Do in Spain bitching me about Harleys consoles being made of plastic and he has created quite a stir in the Harley community because of this. I would just like to cut his legs by showing him photographic evidence that this is not so, that way I can shut his mouth and calm down our community. Mudpuddle has given me some clear proof, but I would like if someone has pictures showing that the Dyna with the clock on the tank also has alloy consoles. I would greatly appreciate it.
