I drove mine up on about 2ea 2"x6" and carefully leaned it over nice and easy on the kickstand and the angle keeps most of the fluid below the lowest point of the cover line.
I'd put it up and let it sit long as you can so most shifts to the downside and you should be pretty good, might be a little dribble but nothing major. One 2"x6" isn't enough, three inches may do it but might get a touch more dribble.
Mind you now, I take no blame for anything but if I can do it anyone can
It always amaze me what some will do to save 10 bucks. Just drain the oil out and replace it when finished. You may have to loosen the rear exhaust to get the cover off.
One assumes you will need to remove the exhaust
Penetrating oil on the exhaust flange bolts for OFF, anti-seize for ON
Obtain new exhaust gaskets
stock headers? A ball hex is all you need. You dont even need to remove the heat shield. Works with the torque wrench. Not sure why everyone is trying to make more work for this guy.

I said "assume" because we have no idea what bike or what exhaust
Drain the fluid and replace it, you know it's due.
Also a new o-ring for the cable. 11179 - O-RING
Changed bars and clutch cables numerous times and never had my tranny oil needed changed at those times, if something isn't necessary than why throw money out the window?
This isn't rocket surgery!

Then just grab ten bucks out of your wallet and flush it down the toilet if 10 bucks means so little to you, to some it may mean more.
Price a quart of Redline shockproof or HD synthetic for the tranny, gonna be a bit more than 10 bucks!
Money saved is money that can be used for something else needed, it's not like it gets contaminated with cooties!
