2007 Dyna Superglide at 50k miles
I've noticed the last few times I went riding that there was a subtle buzzing noise coming from the fuel tank while the bike was running. I asked my dad if this was normal and he said the fuel pump was going bad. I go to start it this morning and the bike doesn't start. Fuel pump primes when I turn on ignition, but it doesn't sound like the bike is getting fuel when I try to start it. Also when I bought the bike the previous owner informed me that the fueling system was upgraded and it seems to be a different pressure regulator on the fuel pump when I dug in to check it out.
So do you think you can run a fuel pressure test? Or have you already pulled it. I just ordered a Quantum complete system for my bike. 15% discount on their website now.
Id guess your pump is ok and the noise you hear is a pinhole in the fuel line thats inside the tank.
Start the bike then pop the gas cap open and have a look or listen inside the tank. If you see or hear bubbles you got holes in the fuel line.
I don't hear any sort of bubbling, I actually now think it's just the battery. I was able to push start the bike and run the bike for a while and didn't feel any sputtering or lack of fuel while riding. That buzzing noise is still pretty loud coming from the tank, but at least the pressure in the line seems to be okay.
On my newer FLT, I started noticing the pump was making a similar noise and getting louder. I changed the filter and the noise was mostly gone, at least to the point I consider to be normal.
