Can anyone tell me the reason all Dyna seats interchange (provided the years are the same) except for the Wideglides?
I realize the rear fender is different, but HOW MUCH different? Is it just a matter of alonger/shorter rear bracket? A different hole to mount? I don't have a non Wideglide seat to compare. Anyone?
The mounting holes are in a different spot. It is a matter of the rear bracket being longer. When I replaced my seat I was given 2 brackets, 1 for a wide glide and the other for regular dyna's.
I have an 03 WG. I replaced the stock seat with a HD replacement called the touring pillow top seat. It's the same size etc for me , but my wife appreciates that it is 1 1/2 " more padding ( so she can see over me) and it's 4" wider. It's a great touring seat. She appreciates the softer seat and doesn't complain about a sore butt even after 3-4 hr rides.
Thanks guys, the reason I ask is I pretty much ride solo now that the wife is ridin her 2006 Fatboy and I'd like a little more "sporty" seat than the stock 05 FXDWG seat.
I keep finding used Dyna seats on ebay and craigslist, but they're always " EXCEPT WIDEGLIDES".
I am trying to see what makes the Dyna seats different than the Wideglide. Heck, if it's only a rear bracket I can make that.
not sure of the part # but when i got my seat the bracket was 1 inch short , HD sale a braket that is an inch longer chrome for $10 seat fit perfect now .
