Final Drive Belt
I know, sounds crazy doesn't it... but there are several things over the years that Harley has done really well....
The drive belt is one of the things that Harley got right.... Stick with OEM...

While that is true, it doesn't mean they are all the same...
FWIW...
Gates makes belts.. Gates can make a premium belt and a more affordable belt. They have standard offerings, and they will make belts to certain specifications called for in a contract with an outside vendor like Harley. Many times these offerings are part of an exclusive contract, especially if part of a large contract as they would have with HD. That means Gates can only make belts to the specifications of the vendor, for that vendor. This happens throughout the motorcycle industry in belts, tires, batteries, etc.
So while those belts are all made by the same manufacturer... there can, and will often, be differences between them.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Certainly not a bad assumption... more weight could indeed lead to more/faster wear...
I just don't know of any aftermarket belts that are better than the OEM belts.....
Don't know how I missed it, but I thought your Trike was a Harley Trike, not a kit.. As a kit, does it use a Harley drive belt? Do you know the part number?
There are a few Trike companies you could call. They would know if there is actually a belt that will handle the loads of a trike, better than an OEM belt, at the size you need for your trike kit....
If you should call one of them, post up what they suggest, and why.... that way we all can learn.
Until then, FWIW...
Using the 2023 model year:
The HD 2023 Tri-Glide Ultra uses a #40040-05 final drive belt. It's 139 teeth, and 1-18"
The HD 2023 Ultra Limited touring bike uses #40024-09A final drive belt. It's 140 teeth, and 24mm (0.9448").
Good luck and share what you find out....
