You're in to it this far; I'd look into the practicality of milling down the lugs on the caliper.

He means the actual fork lower, the piece that the fork tube slides in and out of going down the road. I'm guessing the casting pushes the caliper mounting point closer to the wheel because of the width of the Wide Glide fork. Did you say that the caliper was never mounted when you got the bike? I don't know why the original owner would have changed a left side slider/lower unless it was damaged somehow.

The wheel hub looks to be set up for dual disks.. Could the hub be for a bagger?

All the 06-later mid-glide Dyna laced spoke wheels have provisions for a Right side disc

Also fwiw, you wouldn't see the heads of the spokes if "Touring" ... they would be to the inside ... you know that

Before you do anything else, confirm that the forks are parallel to each other. It's probably an illusion, but the last picture in post #5 makes them look like they're pulled together at the axle.

The one installed is for a "Wide Glide" or Fat Bob. Which one could be determined by seeing the fender mounts, but I'm guessing WG unless you see modfications to the fender to make it fit.

Regardless, you need a different slider

Just to elaborate on identification ... first you need to know there is such a thing and then how to visually identify. The identifier is the location of the caliper mounts in relation to the slider casting line.

See the casting line below

Another 49mm reference with WG slider (like yours) to the Left ... Std FXD to the Right

You're the man!

I still want to know why the slider had to be changed.
