Speedjunkie, do you know if changing the Final Drive Ratio has any negative effects? I'll call Randy at Zippers later as I'm curious if changing the FDR just increases the sensitivity of the TMAX ECM to process the 6th speed indicator or actually results in a performance change.
I'm not sure on ill effects, but I doubt it. I don't think it changes the sensitivity of the tmax, rather I think it makes it less sensitive. Basically just loosens up the tolerance as to when it can sense the 6th gear switch. Zippers should have a better answer tho.
Installed Tmax today and the frickin' 6th gear light doesn't work. It is a new unit - the firmware I loaded was 4.4, I believe. I did the i/net update and that was all that was shown. The unit won't tell you what firmware version it has - or I couldn't figure it out. My settings are FDR 87 and TPS 40. The instructions don't say anything about the -5 on the FDR. I have stock exhaust so I am running map 404. There are only like a couple of FX maps - all the others say FL (for the 96" engine). Any ideas?
Hmmm! It says in the instructions to set the speedo calibrations to 45900 on 06-07 dyna, under basic settings.set final drive to 87, and set gear tps to 40.
Hope you updated yer software and firmware tooo, and hooked up yer auto tune cord to the ecm.
You just have a base program in. Now your bike needs to be driven so it can tune itself. Were talkin about a lot more than a few hundred miles. your bike will only tune where you ride, so you need to vary yer riding styles.
It will run only as good as what kind of pipes you have on and how you have your bike set up also.
Hope you did not put any anti seize on your oxygen sensors cause it can get on them and mess them up. Take your bike out and ride all day for a few weeks.. The TM will have to read the oxygen sensors and the TPSsensor and rps to tune.
