Why won't P/N 31705-04 (chrome coil cover) fit a 2012 FXDC? it says for carb models, but looks exactly like the one for fuel injected bikes, P/N 31709-04. What's the difference? And will it fit? If not, why? TIA

 

Coils are different

 

This is the item I was talking about. It says it's for carbureted models but it looks exactly like one I had before on my Dyna. It doesn't look like the one in your diagram that is for a carburetor model. It looks exactly like the one that's for fuel injected bikes.

Like 88 said, the coils are different. The secondary towers are in different positions
