Default Reduced teeth rear spindle

I have a 08 fxd super glide and was wanting to lower my rear spindle tooth size for a better top end but can't seem to find one can anyone suggest anything? Thanks in advance.

When ya ask for Technical Assistance for your bike, it's a good idea to identify the part in question. I looked up in the Parts Manual for a SPINDLE. Funny, Harley does not list ANY spindles. LMAO

Stock on that unit is a 32 tooth front pulley, 66 tooth rear pulley, and a 131 tooth belt. You can get a larger front pulley from Andrews (33 or 34 tooth) and an international pulley (Japan bikes of that vintage came with a 64 tooth pulley & a 130 tooth belt). If you go up one on the front, and down 2 on the rear, the stock belt may be adequate, you may have to replace the belt due to limited adjustment.
A cheaper alternative may be to convert to chain...

Default Reduced teeth rear "pulley"

Thanks for the info rigidthumper, I have looked into the chain conversion and really want to try it but all the tech's at work are totally against it. I'm just gonna do the conversion and be done with it. Just want more top end speed.

Chains are more effective delivering power but are a PITA. Stick with a belt.

I have doubts that changing your final drive ratio for higher top speed will work. With a stock motor I don't think it will pull to redline in sixth gear. Are you planning on doing some motor mods to increase power?

Default Rear pulley

I have parts for an upgraded intake and exhaust. And wouldn't need much performance upgrades to have less strain on the bike in top gear. I've done the smaller rear sprocket or pulley on my last 5 bikes without performance upgrades and have gotten all but 1 to max out. It does take some time to get the bike their but it happens.

Max out? ... You mean red line in high gear? ... Quite optimistic

The 32/66 is bad enough. You go to the 64 and you will have a gutless mess, but it is your bike.

AND you lose low end torque due to the higher gearing.......you'll be replacing the clutch once a month cause you have to slip it so much to get off the line, if at all.
