Knocking noise under the seat

Not saying this is your problem but I recently went crazy searching for the cause of constant clack-clack knock over any little bump in the road. It felt like it was coming from under the seat but sounded like something was hitting the bottom of the gas tank. I looked at motor mounts but all seemed good and I can't tell you how many times I tried to shake the gas tank which always seemed to be tight. Then a line backer sized friend of mine took a short ride, came back and said, "Your gas tank is loose!", and proceeded to shake the gas tank up and down a good 1/8" - 1/4". Retightened the front tank bolt and all was quiet again.

You could use some big washers to shim the shock out a little, or do what I did and remove the belt guard.

Make sure the bottom of the shock isn't hitting the exhaust. Put it on a motorcycle jack and with the swingarm fully extended, look at the bottom bolt and exhaust.

I also thought it was a little too much. But the company said they can handle up to 200. Anyway, I'll change the mounts, there's a lot of vibration on the handlebars. Should I go with the originals?
